Our Story: Meet Dr Ros, Founder of WHiL
From Studying Pharmacy, Medicine, and My Determination To Become a Doctor
I’m Dr Ros, and my journey to creating WHiL is rooted in a passion for making people feel good and the belief that the impossible does not exist.
After years of pharmaceutical and medical practice, alongside the ups and downs of running businesses and raising a family. There have been many learnings I’ve made.
What has made me more determined than ever is seeing the living proof of the positive health improvements my patients and I have personally experienced from following the Seven Principles.
During my early career as a pharmacist, my path took a pivotal turn. I’ve always felt guilty being a working mother, wanting to provide for my family. During those early years, my home life was strained. I faced criticism in my semi-arranged first marriage for not wanting to be a "traditional" stay-at-home mum, called a “bad woman and a bad wife.”
Everything changed when my eldest son was diagnosed with severe autism. I left my Pharmacy role to care for him and my daughter, Yasmin, full-time.
Stepping away from the Pharmacy gave me the chance to reflect. That was when I decided to pursue a medical degree at 35
The Moment Everything Changed
“I knew I had to follow my dream of becoming a doctor, and I refused to let societal expectations or personal struggles stop me.”
I found a way to fund my studies and support my family, doing something unconventional: I opened a cafe called Jabar’s Hut. To my delight, it was a success and gave me the funds I needed to fight for my dream.
There were always those who underestimated me. I was taking care of everyone, whilst running the cafe, studying, and navigating through the breakdown of my marriage. I think people were all expecting a little, quiet, gentle Asian lady, with not much fire behind her.
“What they got was a Maheena Thalijara Pathan, as we say in my culture.
Maheena means smooth, Thalijara means noble, and Pathan means warrior.”
The Birth of WHiL
As a Doctor, I’ve spent my life in overdrive, working long hours, juggling motherhood, and navigating chaotic schedules within hospitals. My body was constantly drained, my sleep was disrupted, and stress was my constant companion. I knew that if I was going to thrive, I needed a system that worked in the trenches of real life, not just in a textbook.
I created and battle-tested the WHiL principles on myself.
I didn't need magic pills or quick-fix injections. I built sustainable habits that restored my energy, helped me lose nearly 2 stone for fertility treatment, and strengthened my mind.
This system, forged through my real-world struggles as a pharmacist, a doctor, a mother, and an entrepreneur, is what I now share with you.
